It has been claimed that Motorola is preparing to unveil a new flagship device, the Edge 70 Ultra, soon after the global launch of the Edge 70. Initial leaks suggest the new phone to have top-notch specifications, among which a 1.5K OLED display and the not-yet-released Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. It seems Motorola will stick to its developing silhouettes that are always thin and light.
The information that tech analyst Anvin (@ZionsAnvin) has provided indicates that the Edge 70 Ultra will come with a periscope telephoto camera, thus appealing to high-end customers. If these rumors are true, the phone would go head-on with such flagship devices as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and Apple iPhone Air.
Currently, the Motorola Edge 70, presented last week, has a 6.67-inch display, a 5.99 mm thickness, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, and a 4,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery. Moreover, it has dual 50-megapixel cameras both on the front and back. The Ultra version will probably go far beyond that with its new parts and better features.
Some analysts think that the Edge 70 Ultra will be an ancestor to the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra from last year which was launched in India in July 2024 at a price of Rs. 59,999. The Edge 50 Ultra has a 6.7-inch 1.5K LTPS pOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, and 12GB of RAM with storage options of up to 512GB. The camera configuration allows one to take photos with a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide angel sensor, and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens on the back, along with a 50-megapixel camera on the front.
On the Edge 50 Ultra, charging methods are no less than 125W TurboPower wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging, which are all part of battery safety measures. The Edge 70 Ultra is presumed to not only inherit these capabilities but also improve them, thus, continuing the evolution of Motorola's presence in the luxury segment.
